First, it's an ancient audience recording from 1971, so I guess I should invoke the usual caveat "for hard-cores only." HOWEVER, I've noticed a few posts lately asking what roios a person should sample first from the category "for hard-cores only," and I urge *everyone* to try to locate this one, for three reasons: (1) Our Lads were *especially* white-hot and adventuresome that night, and whipped out some of the best renditions of these tunes that I've ever heard. (2) This CD was NOT SOURCED FROM VINYL! It has obviously been mastered from either the master tape recording, or some low generation copy of the master tape, and its fidelity and clarity and shear volume are as good as it gets for early-70s audience recordings. (3) And last but certainly not least, this sucker is a *GOLD* CD which sells for a normal roio price (I paid $22). Here's some more information about "Cosmic Music": Atom Heart Mother is performed with a full orchestra, damned near flawlessly and with boundless enthusiasm. The Return Of The Son Of Nothing (aka Echoes) has the alternate lyrics and some unusual and stunning guitar improvisations from David. And the psychedelic passages in CWTAE and Set The Controls are some of the most beautiful spaced out Floyd wiggling that this old burned out COD has ever heard...and I was straight and sober when I listened to it last night. Honest, guys, I HIGHLY recommend that you make an all out effort to obtain this excellent roio; make it a Blues Brothers-style Mission From God. You won't be dissappointed. - GEORGE "Echoes" has the alternate lyrics. There is so little audience noise that it could be mistaken for a soundboard recording. The "orchestra soundcheck" is actually the beginning of AHM, and so there are only four tracks on the CDR instead of the five which are listed. The tight fit of the vinyl slip cover is prone to putting scuff marks on the CDR, so it is advisable to put the CDR into a jewel case instead. Spirited versions of all the songs. -CHOKSY It has the early version of Echoes, and it's quality is better than the other two RoIOs with the early version of Echoes. No tape hiss, and no audience noise. - ASAF
