Artist: Pink Floyd Title: Pink Floyd Live Anthology 1972-1977 Format: VHS video Produced: Hip Cat Cover: No artwork Sources: Hollywood Bowl, LA 9/22/72 (21min) Sports Arena, LA 4/2?/75 (17 min) Angel Stadium, Anaheim 5/7/77 (15 min) Stadthalle, Vienna 2/1/77 (20min) DSoT Moon Film 1974 (35min) Unless I am no longer able to add without a calculator, it looks as though there should be 108 minutes of film on the tape when, in reality, there are only 86. Tracks: ALL songs are INCOMPLETE, except where noted. Breathe On The Run (jam) Money (whole) Us and Them Eclipse Echoes (middle section) A Saucerful Of Secrets (very beginning and very end only) One Of These Days Careful With That Axe (last few seconds only) Have A Cigar Shine On You Crazy Diamond Breathe On The Run (whole) Money Echoes Pigs (Three Different Ones) Welcome To The Machine You Gotta Be Crazy Have A Cigar Shine On You Crazy Diamond Welcome To The Machine Have A Cigar Sheep Pigs (Three Different Ones) Shine On You Crazy Diamond Money Us And Them A New Machine (Part 1) Terminal Frost (whole) A New Machine (Part 2) (whole) Sorrow (whole) Quality: Overall Rating: D (on the ABCDF scale) This is almost certainly the lamest piece of trash I have ever purchased. The video tape has numerous flaws. The colors are totally bleached out. The picture is fuzzy and extremely dark throughout the entire tape. It is impossible to tell the difference between the venues because all of the film is breathtakingly bad. Indeed, we barely see our heros at all for more than half of the running time. When we do see them, they are just white blotches on a sea of darkness. The fan that made the film must have loved guitar solos, as they are almost exclusively what appears on this tape. As soon as our heros sing more than a few lines, the song ends and another guitar solo begins. The master video tape appears to have been damaged at some point, because there are numerous times when the screen goes to static and a loud belching noise comes over the audio. Although this generally lasts only a few seconds, it is extremely annoying. Finally, the "DSoT Moon Film 1974" is set to NON-LIVE songs from A Momentary Lapse Of Reason!! What the hell??? To make matters worse, the songs are constantly plagued by someone sniffing (as if he had a cold) and typing on a keyboard which beeps at him occasionally. Although the films appear to have come from a non-live source, they are out of focus, bleached of color and full of video and audio glitches. Is this *really* the best quality available ? Are the master films *really* that bad ? If so, it is little wonder that MTV decided to dump its original premise for their special this year. I implore you to not buy this video tape. If there is anyone who is still intrigued by it, please write to me and I'll send you a copy for the price of the video tape. (That way, you'll lose as little money as possible when your hopes are dashed.) -- It was reissued in 1995. It is now available as two tapes(Tape one from 1967-73 and Tape two from 1973-94). It now has Interstellar Overdrive from Tonight, Let's All Make Love in London, Apples and Oranges from American Bandstand in 1967, Any Colour You Like from the same show as Careful With That Axe, Eugene. Plus, Yet Another Movie from July, 1989, Shine On... from Knebworth '90, On the Run backdrop film, Run Like Hell from November, 1987, the Take it Back and High Hopes videos and Keep Talking from Foxboro Stadium in May, 1994. They deleted the Dance Songs and Momentary Lapse ads and the French Windows One of These Days video.
