You can contribute, too!

The database is not the work of "experts" but of simple roio-buyers. As a result, the database needs your contributions. It is never complete nor exact. There will be always facts that you know and others do not. Why not share your knowledge? I would like to emphazise that the database is built from the knowledge of a large number of people. It is possibly one of the best examples of truly international collaboration on the internet. A lot of information is gleened from a wide range of sources, and misinformation is going to be evident as a result. All I can say is: Do your part, and the database will be a better place.

How and whom you should mail depends on what you want from us:

What you shouldn't ask
How to contribute to entries (textual additions or corrections)
How to submit cover scans
How to submit suggestions for the site (layout, content, links)
How to submit comments for the "Sellers on Web" page
How to get onto the "Private Traders" page
Other questions?
If you just want to say "thank you" ...

What you shouldn't ask

Remember: The Pink Floyd RoIO Database is made from fans for fans. It is for pure informational needs.

We don't sell RoIOs

We don't know "places" where you can find them

Pink Floyd is currently not touring

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but we are simply tired of getting such mails. Please read how to get RoIOs if you want to get them. Everything we know is there.

How to contribute to entries (textual additions or corrections)

We are preparing a better contribution method via web. Be patient.

For a new entry use the blank form.

For an update / correction / addition to an existing entry:

  1. Click on the button at the bottom of the entry
  2. Fill out the form
  3. Send your update by pressing "Send Update"
  4. Wait
  5. You will get a confirmation message that your update has been taken care of by the administrator.

Note: If you want to stay incognito, say so. Your name will not appear anywhere. Of course you are also free to send us mail in any form you wish.

   Send your mail to roio@meddle.org

The database is not updated immediately! Instead, the administrator gathers the updates and integrates them. Every once a while the complete database is sent to echoserv and to me. As a result, the WWW pages are updated in batches.

How to submit cover scans

If you want to contribute a small cover scan you may send it in any format which you think is suitable. I can read everything.

If you want to contribute a high resolution cover scan then please note the following points:

  1. Always keep in mind that the main purpose is to print it out and put it in a jewel case. Send high quality which is actually useful for others.
  2. Scan at 300dpi.
  3. Cut the scan carefully. Leave a small area around the scan. People want to see the full cover!
  4. Save in JPG format. Don't compress too much. Use a "medium" compression rate (like 50%). Your resulting file shouldn't be more than 1MB.
  5. Scan only originals. Don't send a scan of a copied cover.
  6. Scan the full front cover (vertically and opened, if it is folded) and the back cover. Maybe more if it seems necessary.
  7. Name it properly. Naming is: roioname.part.digit.jpg. A valid name would therefore be: falkoner_teatret.front.1.jpg
For an example, see the entry for Falkoner Teatret.
  8. Send only scans of discs which already have an entry in the db.

Maybe you send me one scan first and I tell you if everything is ok so you can send the rest.

Sorry if this seems a bit complicated, but this ensures that your work is not in vain and that my additional work is minimal. Attach the scan to a mail (binhex, mime, uuencode, whatever, ...).

How to submit suggestions for the site (layout, content, links, congratulations, money :-))

   Send your mail to info@pf-roio.de

How to submit comments for the "Sellers on Web" page

   Send your mail to info@pf-roio.de

How to get onto the "Private Traders" page

Well, see the description on the Sign me up! page.

Other questions?

Please bear in mind that we are generally not able to identify your unknown tapes, help you in finding a particular RoIO or to tell you if a recording from a particular concert exists. We also can't tell you if RoIO x is better than RoIO y. All we know is already here, we have no secrets to hide. Explore it. If you still think you have a valid question:

   Send your mail to roio@meddle.org

If you just want to say "thank you" ...

We like to get kind words for all the work we put into this site 8^) If you just want to send us a note to express that you like what we did:

   Send your mail to roio@meddle.org
